About Us
ZERO TO THREE

ZERO TO THREE is a national non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC. The organization’s mission is to promote the health and development of infants and toddlers. This is accomplished by translating research and knowledge – specifically information about the kinds of early experiences that help children thrive – into a range of practical tools and resources for use by the adults who influence the lives of young children.
ZERO TO THREE’s work is designed to meet three major goals:
- Train Professionals and Build Networks of Leaders: Through direct training and publications, ZERO TO THREE creates and distributes authoritative, research-based information on best practices to professionals who serve infants, toddlers and their families. The organization is best known for its expertise in infant mental health and social and emotional development. It uses large, well-established networks to distribute its work and partners collaboratively with many organizations to reach settings as diverse as child care centers, home visiting programs, clinics and hospitals nationwide.
- Raise Public Awareness of Early Childhood Issues: ZERO TO THREE has played a central role in promoting understanding around critical issues affecting young children and their families, including early care and education, child welfare, infant mental health and early intervention. The organization disseminates materials via the Internet, parent e-newsletters, parenting magazines and the news media. By consistently providing reliable, science-based resources on how best to promote a young child’s health and development, ZERO TO THREE has become the “go-to” source for professionals and parents.
- Influence Policies and Practice: ZERO TO THREE works to ensure that the needs of infants and toddlers are understood and addressed by policymakers, and provides vehicles for early childhood professionals to inform decision making about policies and programs which support infants and toddlers.
